Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, Alice is the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead. Now, she must return to where the nightmare began – The Hive in Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.
Okay, hopefully this is the last live action Resident Evil movie that we will see. Until the whole thing gets rebooted, and for the love of god let that be not for at least 10 years. I suppose the good points of this movie are the recap at the beginning and the explanation of Alice’s existence. I also liked the fact that there was a degree of directorial continuity given that Paul W. S. Anderson directed all but two movies in the franchise. My biggest complaint with the franchise as a whole is that the filmmakers seemed to have difficulty in giving the movies a sequential flow to them. There seemed to be so many missed opportunities through the franchise the biggest of which was with how there was no payoff as to how Resident Evil: Retribution ended
