Gantz 0 is a 3D computer generated movie based on a manga series from 2000 and was written and illustrated by Hiroya Oku, it has been spun off into an anime series and has had two other movies both of which were live action movies released in 2010 and 2011. And for the record no I am not familiar with the manga series and don’t have a clue how Gantz 0 fits in with the two live action movies.
For those of you wondering no I did not do any homework leading into this in fact I stumbled across it on Netflix. This had a different tone to the live action movies, not because it was a computer generated movie, but the aliens seemed out of place in the live action movies and in Gantz 0 (slight spoiler) in the Giant Alien vs Mech battle the directors seemed to fail convey the feeling of the scale of either the alien or the Mech to the viewer. Though I am willing to concede that particular battle is something that should be seen on a big screen. The bigger the better.
