A team of commandos on a mission in a Central American jungle find themselves hunted by an extraterrestrial warrior.
A couple of things part of the reason why I have decided to review is that there is a “sequel” to Predator supposedly to be released in 2018 The Predator directed by Shane Black who portrayed Hawkins in the original. Also for those of you who might be interested this was released a year after the former Governor of Minnesota Jesse Ventura retired from Professional wrestling.
I suppose this is the text book example of an “80’s action” movie especially considering I am certain that I did not see anybody reload their gun once and it’s pretty clear by the introduction of Carl Weathers’ this is the kind of movie where the testosterone has been cranked up just a few more notches then you would expect. But is Predator an iconic action? I’m not entirely certain. Personally, I’m not sure if this is the best example of Arnold’s work at the time I feel that The Terminator and even The Running Man (which was released in 1987 the same year as Predator) as better examples of his work.
At the time this was Director John McTiernan delivered a serviceable action that is understandably slow but not as tense as it needed to be.
