Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage.

Previously I have spoken of how stale the “superhero” genre seems to have become, so I suppose it’s a good thing that Marvel has released Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 at least so that we can have a small respite from everything that is going on Earth in the MCU.

GOTG2 is very much a watchable movie, it would a take the stars to be in perfect alinement for Marvel to release a painful to the point of being of unwatchable and cause people to leave the cinema. If you liked GOTG you are going like this one for the simple reason of directorial continuity and continued involvement of Writer/Director James Gunn (I’ve said it before but lack of directorial continuity in franchises or trilogies is a pet peeve of mine). Gunn delivered something that was a little more emotionally dense this time round I loved the chemistry between Chris Pratt and Kurt Russell. I also loved the continuation of the plot between Gamora and Nebula, though direction of their plot did give me a slight case of where the heck did that come from? It wouldn’t surprise me if there was a couple of deleted scenes involving them. I also liked that Baby Groot had his own heroic moment and was not regulated to being a comic relief character, though he did have his own very hilarious moment.

For those of you who want to know you are going to have to stay for awhile after the credits for several post credits scenes. There are five.
