A young FBI agent, eager to prove himself in the field, goes undercover as a white supremacist.
Imperium takes its inspiration from the real-life story of FBI agent Michael German, who helped co-write the script.
I really haven’t actively sought out that many movies starring Daniel Radcliffe to review since the end of the Harry Potter film franchise (I suppose Rupert Grint can also be added to that list) and I have to admit that Imperium helped break the Harry Potter aura that I might of still had. There were also decent performances by Toni Collette, Tracy Letts and Sam Trammell.
For the record, I hold Mike Newell’s 1997 movie Donnie Brasco in high regard when it comes to the ‘undercover law enforcement official’ plot. Now Daniel Ragussis who was directing his first feature brought a good sense of style to his movie (I particularly liked his use of archival footage) but unfortunately it failed to even come close to the level of Donnie Brasco, which by comparison was a far darker movie.
