Sleepless Night (Nuit Blanche) is a 2011 French-Belgian-Luxembourgian thriller film directed and co-written by Frederic Jardin.
For those of you who are wondering no I didn’t watch Sleepless Night before watching Sleepless, for the simple reason that going into this I wasn’t aware that this was a remake. From what I can gather about the Director Baran bo Odar, this is his first movie exclusively in English.
I was actually kind of impressed by Sleepless’ opening sequence in a lot of ways it reminded me of the opening car chase at the start of John Wick 2. There was also a pretty decent cast in this movie, though I would say that I was a little surprised to see Dermot Mulroney cast in this one. Though Mulroney did make for good villain in this. That being said Sleepless seemed to be somewhat of a wasted opportunity as it failed to develop any major tension as Jamie Foxx’s character’s son really never seemed to be in that much jeopardy.
It looks like I am going to have to watch Sleepless Night to if Sleepless is just another example of a poorly made American remake or just a wasted opportunity.
