After being coerced into working for a crime boss, a young getaway driver finds himself taking part in a heist doomed to fail.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again my cinematic education is lacking in some areas and I have not heard of the term Jukebox Musical before, even though I have watched more than a few movies who would fall into that category. Now for those of you who might not know what a Jukebox Musical is, it is a stage or film musical that uses previously released popular songs as its musical score.
Now on the face of it this has a very simple plot, but combined with the soundtrack and great performances by Jamie Foxx, Jon Hamm and Lily James there is something that is really worth watching (and for the record yes, I brought the soundtrack).
I can’t stress how cool the soundtrack is. Now we are in a world where we are spoiled for choice when it comes to our cinematic entertainment and as such there are movies that start to blend together in the way that they present their action sequences. Now what writer/director Edgar Wright should be congratulated for is that he used the movie’s soundtrack to seemingly elevate the action sequences and make it seem that action choreographed to the music.
