In April 2015, the Hatton Garden Safe Deposit Company, an underground safe deposit facility in London’s Hatton Garden area, was burgled by 4 elderly men. The total stolen may have a value of up to £200 million, the incident has been called the “largest burglary in English legal history.”
First things first this movie engages in one of peeves about movies in that the movie is known by a different name in the international market. Being that One Last Heist was originally released as The Hatton Garden Job.
It should be noted that two movies have been about the Hatton Garden Safe Deposit Burglary “Hatton Garden the Heist!” from 2016 and “The Hatton Garden Job” from 2017. A third film, “Night in Hatton Garden” starring Michael Caine and Ray Winstone is currently in production.
I’m vaguely familiar with director Ronnie Thompson’s work. One Last Job is slick and kind of smart story and follows a lot of the beats that you would expect from a heist movie and there was, some decent performances of particular note was Mathew Goode and Joley Richardson. Though I am not entirely sure how closely the filmmakers stuck to the details of the actual heist and I have a feeling that this movie might have to be filed somewhere in the speculative history file just like Roger Donaldson’s 2008 movie The Bank Job.
