Screen Australia congratulates the cast, crew and creative teams behind the ten projects selected for the 2018 Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale). Projects include the highly anticipated drama series Picnic at Hanging Rock in Berlinale Series, and Tilda Cobham-Hervey’s directorial debut A Field Guide to Being a 12-Year-Old Girl.
“Picnic at Hanging Rock continues to captivate people around the world,” CEO of Screen Australia Graeme Mason commented . “Not only has the hotly anticipated series already sold to Amazon for the US, BBC for the UK, and SKY New Zealand, it will now open the highly prestigious Berlinale Series program. The buzz surrounding this series is inescapable ahead of its world premiere at home on Foxtel.”
Mason also pointed out that in addition to the ten projects, four emerging female Australian directors – Amie Batalibasi (Docked), Pia Borg (Silica), Lucy Gaffy (Dream Baby) and Bec Penniston-Bird (Goodnight Sweetheart) – have been selected to participate in the Berlinale Talents program.
Mason explained that Two Australians, Adelaide Film Festival Director and CEO Amanda Duthie and photographer Mark Rogers, will also be jury members in the Generation program devoted to children (Kplus) and young adults (14plus).
“We are thrilled to have so many Australians represented at this year’s Berlinale. Their presence contributes enormously to the international reputation of our local screen content and talent, which we will be promoting on the ground in Berlin at the European Film Market,” Mason commented.
