Score 6/6

The true story of Molly Bloom, an Olympic-class skier who ran the world’s most exclusive high-stakes poker game and became an FBI target.

This is based on a true story that you might not have heard about unless your one of those people who are hooked into (though if you do remember seeing this story unfold please tell me). I know I make a big point about wondering how much of a movie based on a true story is completely accurate, I’d say considering Aaron Sorkin’s adapted screenplay was based on Molly Bloom’s own memoir Molly’s Game: The True Story of the 26-Year-Old Woman Behind the Most Exclusive, High-Stakes Underground Poker Game in the World it safe to say Molly’s Game is right on the money, save for one maybe two points that where exaggerated for dramatic purposes.

I was actually surprised when I learnt that this was Aaron Sorkin’s directorial debut, given the quality of the some of the other projects that he’s been involved with I thought that he would have already directed something before.
Both Idris Elba and Jessica Chastain gave great performances. I also loved the three question therapy scene between Jessica and Kevin Costner, I also found that Chastain’s performance as Bloom has made me admire Molly Bloom because in the face of such impending doom she displayed what I feel could only be described as a Jefferson Smith level of morality.
Then of course if that isn’t enough there are some interesting poker scenes that are excellent of what it must be like to be stupidly rich.
