A former boxer-turned-drug runner lands in a prison battleground after a deal gets deadly.

I’ll admit it, I usually don’t watch a lot of movies starring Vince Vaughn. In the past he has struck me as the kind of actor who is good in small doses, after watching him in Brawl in Cell Block 99 I think I might have to change my opinion of him.

It was good to see Marc Blucas it has been awhile since I last saw him in a movie and Don Johnson gave a great performance as the sadistic Warden Tuggs.
This is the second movie directed by S. Craig Zahler that I have watched, the other being Bone Tomahawk (No I have not posted review and I really don’t want to watch it again any time soon) As action movies go Zahler really did not waste too much time on exposition this movie comes across as if it’s all about the action and I also liked the grindhouse vibe the movie had. I would advise that those of you have what would be described as a squeamish stomach that you might want to avoid this one or at the very least don’t watch this after a heavy meal because some the action is a little full one and left me feeling a little queasy.
