Opening on Anzac Day, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Australia-wide has grossed a staggering $29M at the Australian box office across the five-day cinema weekend. This compares with STAR WARS: The FORCE AWAKENS opening weekend of $30M, which went on to achieve nearly $100M in the Australian market.
In a joint statement Co-Chairmen and Co-CEOs of Village Roadshow Limited, Robert Kirby and Graham Burke said, “it’s proof that people will visit cinemas to experience their favourite film on the big screen. This is a foretaste of the second half 2018 and early 2019 which will see the blockbuster big screen movies continue with films such as Aladdin, Aquaman, Mamma Mia and Mary Poppins and another Avengers on the horizon”
