The $396 million new Western Australian Museum, currently under construction and due to open in 2020, will offer free entry to children.
“The decision to exempt children from an entry fee was despite significant budgetary pressures and will apply to all children under the age of 15.” Western Australian Minister for Culture and the Arts David Templeman commented “The New Museum will be a world-class facility when it opens in 2020, and will attract thousands of people each year, from within Western Australia, Australia and the world. It will showcase our Aboriginal heritage and unique natural environment, offering visitors an educational and inspiring experience.”
The Minister explained that the decision to exempt children from an admissions fee was made despite significant budgetary pressures and will ensure that future generations are exposed to cultural infrastructure and events. Adults will be charged a $15 entrance fee, with pensioners and concession card holders paying $10.
“The McGowan Government is committed to keeping entrance fees affordable for Western Australians and will be offering $15 entrance fees for adults and $10 for concession card holders.” Minister Templeman commented.
