I have finally gotten around to watching Terra Formars, this movie has been sitting on my list of movies to watch for the longest time, and I have FINALLY gotten around to watching it (when I say I eventually get around to watching things I mean it, even if it takes me a couple of years.) For those of you who might be interested it turns out that this 2016 movie is based on the manga series Terra Formars by Yū Sasuga & Kenichi Tachibana.
Going into watching this I was completely unaware of the source material the movie was based on and only decided to watch this because Takashi Miike was the director.
On the face of it Terra Formars seemed to have the dirty lived in world that you would readily associate with something like Blade Runner or The Fifth Element and the uniform for the crew of the BUGS 2 was something that look very similar to Storm Trooper armour from Star Wars.
This is a science fiction movie that has some really cool and interesting concepts to it and I really would really like to see that Terra Formars get a sequel or possibly even a prequel to fully explore them. This can be best described as a beer and popcorn movie. Though the plot is interesting enough the driving force of the movie is the action. What I really liked was the use of genetic manipulation from an injection throughout the story was very. It leads to some very wild looking computer-generated insect-humanoid mutations of the crew of the BUGS 2 and some very cool fight sequences.
