Jake Carter and another former Marine, Luke Trapper, join forces to rescue a kidnapped girl from a gang of international criminals.

My only excuse for watching this would be having a case of franchise-completion-itis. I suppose it was nice that there was a degree of director continuity considering James Nunn also directed the previous instalment in the franchise. Now as Action movies go The Marine 5 is not a big action movie but there was also several nice shots from a helicopter throughout the movie. Rebecca Quin (known as Becky Lynch to WWE fans) gave a great performance as the villain of the movie. I really was not that impressed with both Mike Mizanin and Shawn Michaels’ performances, the pair made for a forgettable action buddy combination.
The biggest disappointment with this franchise particularly with Mizanin’s tenure in the franchise was that there was not an overarching storyline. Sure, there are action franchise’s that don’t have that but The Marine is not in their league.
