Village Cinemas Australia has announced the employment of 180 young people who are set to work across the 21 Village Cinemas locations in Victoria and Tasmania this summer. The busy employment period saw over 1,500 job-seekers apply for the available roles, proving the roles popular among young people looking for part-time employment.
Kirk Edwards, CEO at Village Entertainment said the employment opportunities available at this time of year are great for the industry. “Providing young people with the opportunity to work at Village Cinemas is the perfect starting place for those who are wanting to pursue a creative career in the film or entertainment industry. The interest for roles at Village Cinemas is a testament to the relevance of film and cinema to Australian youth.” Edwards commented “Employment at Village Cinemas offers our next generation of workers a vibrant and innovative professional experience with countless opportunities to develop their skills in leadership, communication and teamwork. The training that we have available truly prepares employees for success in future endeavours, particularly within the industry.”
Recent recruit Patrick Blyth, 20, said when looking for a job, he wanted enjoyment and aligned values. “I’d only ever heard that Village Cinemas was an incredible place to work, and from what I’d seen, everyone was cheerful and supportive.” Blyth said.
