Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed. Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life. Facing an opponent with ties to his family’s past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring.
Is Creed 2 better then Creed? I dunno maybe, but not by much. If there is going to be any future with this spin off series, it needs to be able to stand on its own two feet and plans for Adonis Creed to fight the son of Clubber Lang need to be conveniently forgotten, the only villain of the past that needs to be addressed in this franchise is Drag. I know it’s a controversial thought but there needs to be more original ideas in movies because if we get down to it Creed 2 comes across as being a mashup of the plots of Rocky 2, 3 and 4.
Michael B. Jordan gave a decent enough performance as the plot of the movie deals with the good and the bad consequences of being a professional boxer and that there is a lot more to consider then when and where your next fight is. I firmly believe that Florian Munteanu is possibly an even more imposing figure then Dolph Lundgren was back in 1985. I’ll admit that perhaps it’s a case of nostalgic coloured glasses but the training sequences in Creed 2 seemed to be unable to catch the impact of the training sequences in the Rocky movies which is an important moment.
