Ron Stallworth, an African American police officer from Colorado Springs, CO, successfully manages to infiltrate the local Ku Klux Klan branch with the help of a Jewish surrogate who eventually becomes its leader. Based on actual events.
Its been more then awhile since I’ve last watched a movie directed by Spike Lee, the last movie I remember watching that he directed was 25th hour starring Edward Norton, Barry Pepper & Philip Seymour Hoffman. I really should try and watch more movies directed by Spike Lee as the third act of movies that have a great emotional punch and a good point about society.
If you didn’t catch this one at the friendly neighborhood cinema, don’t worry this isn’t the kind of movie that needs the biggest screen possible though there are a couple of scenes in the third act that could possibly benefit from a larger screen.
The plot of BlacKkKlansman is ridiculous the kind of ridiculous that even though this billed as being based on actual events as being marketing BS though I am also sure that there people who that its so ridiculous it has to be true.
John David Washington and Adam Driver both gave great performances and seemed to make a great team (I loved the bit towards the end of the movie with polaroid camera). The plot did follow some of those buddy cop troupes but its something that can be easily overlooked. Topher Grace’s performance as David Duke shows just how versatile an actor he is. I have never really seen any of Ashlie Atkinson’s work I really do hope that I come across her work again.
