Johnny English Strikes Again

Director David Kerr
Starring Rowan Atkinson, Ben Miller, Olga Kurylenko
Rated PG
Score 4.5/6

After a cyber-attack reveals the identity of all of the active undercover agents in Britain, Johnny English is forced to come out of retirement to find the mastermind hacker.

This is not the type of movie that gives the spirit of the James Bond franchise doesn’t seem to be as big and loud as the other movies in the Johnny English franchise. That being Johnny English Strikes Again has enough heart and enough funny moments to make this an enjoyable movie to watch.
One of my pet peeves when it comes to film franchises is when there is no directorial continuity throughout the franchise and sadly that the case with this one. Though it should be noted that writer William Davis has been involved with the writing process for all three movies.
As you would expect Rowan Atkinson gave a brilliant performance and love how English is a analogue man in a digital and just doesn’t seem to care, which if you think about so isn’t James Bond (an interesting fact two of the four writers from the franchise Neal Purvis and Robert Wade have co-written six James Bond Movies). Ben Miller was the perfect choice to play opposite Atkinson as Bough and I was a little surprised to see Emma Thompson cast as the Prime Minister.
On a personal note, I think that they might have a hard time topping the wheelchair chase sequence from Johnny English Reborn though the VR sequence was one of my favorite scenes from Strikes Again. I also enjoyed the opening scenes at school.
