A.X.L. is a top-secret, robotic dog who develops a special friendship with Miles and will go to any length to protect his new companion.
A-X-L is based on the proof-of-concept short film Miles by writer/director Oliver Daly. The short film was funded via Kickstarter campaign that began in 2014, with 190 backers and Daly should be congratulated for getting his proof-of-concept short film to feature length.
I probably would have avoided this one if I noticed it at the friendly neighbourhood cinema because as I have said in the past there some movies that I am to old to watch during their cinematic run.
I loved the concept of the concept of the robotic dog and I have to admit that movies where a kid finds and befriends a mysterious creature have a certain charm about them.
I wasn’t familiar with the majority of actors cast in this movie, the only actor who I was familiar with was Thomas Jane and its been a while I since I have last seen him in a movie.
Alex Neustaedter, Becky G and Alex MacNicoll all gave okay performances, though I’m not sure if I will be in a hurry to seen any of them in another movie. The overall emotional tone of the movie seemed to be a little flat and the drama between the leads just wasn’t entirely believable, though I will admit that the movie’s finale was touching.
