In just 3 days, three cases of Smiling Murder shock Hong Kong. The young detective Wang Bu’er and his buddy Huang Feihong embark on an investigation full of excitement and unexpected events.
For those of you who might be interested Badges of Fury is Jet Li and Wen Zhang’s third collaboration after Ocean Heaven and The Sorcerer and the White Snake.
This is another choice that can be filed under spur of the moment decision and I am so glad that I got around to watching Badges of Fury because it is possibly one of the most bonkers movies that I have watched in 2019.
Considering that this movie was in Mandarin with English Subtitles I am going to assume that possibly some of the jokes might not have translated into English that well, but that’s okay because Badges of Fury is a very funny movie. I really enjoyed Jet Li, Wen Zhang, Michelle Chen and Cecilia Liu’s performances.
Badges of Fury has what I can only describe as a live action cartoon feel, I’ve seen a similar approach taken with the Asterix and Obelix live action movies. The Martial Arts sequences where unlike anything I’ve seen recently. I was also very impressed with Wen Zhang as Wang Bu’er’s chase sequence involving a bicycle chasing a taxi.
