A recently discharged Major, finds himself commanding a group of mismatched Cadets.
For those of you who might be interested apparently Major Payne is a loose remake of the 1955 war film The Private War of Major Benson, starring Charlton Heston.
Recently I was asked ‘what have been watching recently?’ and when I mentioned that I had watched Major Payne the immediate response was ‘oh that’s so cool’ and I had to agree with the person I was talking to because I had found memories of watching Major Payne on video when it was originally released. I still found Major Payne to be a watchable movie and there where more than a few funny moments of particular note Major Payne’s (portrayed by Damon Wayans) alternative form of pain medication and his telling of the children’s story the little engine that could. I also enjoyed both Steven Martini’s and Orlando Brown’s performances who portrayed Cadet Alex J. Stone and Cadet Kevin “Tiger” Dunn.
I can’t help but feel that Major Payne and movies like it feel a little bit dated, though I do admit that I’m no longer in the key demographic for Major Payne so just maybe I am a little to in touch with my inner curmudgeonly old man.
