A medieval English knight is magically transported to the present day where he falls for a high school science teacher who is disillusioned by love.
Okay, no more Christmas movies, at least for this week. Maybe next time I am going to have review something that isn’t a romantic movie.
This was another random Netflix choice, that was probably influenced by the fact that Vanessa Hudgens was cast in this. The last time I remember seeing her in a movie was probably either Bandslam or Machete Kills. The only other person who was involved with this that I was familiar with was Emmanuelle Chriqui.
My first thoughts about this was that the plot for The Knight Before Christmas was that it was very similar to the 2001 James Mangold directed movie Kate & Leopold, towards the end of the movie there was a moment that reminded me of a scene from the 2004 Martha Coolidge directed movie The Prince & Me.
Though it has been a long time since I last watched Kate & Leopold, Knight before Christmas is the ‘lighter’ of the two movies because there were some heartfelt moments and Knight Before Christmas did hit a couple of very similar plot beats to Kate & Leopold. The emotional investment needed for Knight before Christmas is minimal at best. Both Josh Whitehouse and Vanessa Hudgens gave decent performances and they had a cute onscreen chemistry.
I do have to congratulate Netflix for the sneaky promotional move they made by having two of their Christmas movies Holiday in the wild and The Holiday Calendar be featured on television screens during the movie
