Tommy follows the journey of a young boy who uses his imagination to escape the trauma of his parents’ separation.
Wow. I think I shed a tear when the credits started to roll on this. I even clapped, which was a little odd considering I watched this on my laptop.
If you want to watch Tommy apparently it has been selected for Flicker Fest 2020, Australia’s leading Academy® Accredited & BAFTA Recognised Short Film Festival. Also, for those of who might be interested Tommy is based on a book called Tommy and Terry Tiger by Daren Mort.
Any other movie probably would not have been told form Tommy’s point of view. I really would like to talk a lot about the plot of Tommy, but considering the movie is only twenty minutes long I really don’t give to much away. This is a movie that highlights the importance of the child’s point of view during divorce and exactly how damaging parental dramas can be.
I loved the scenes in the submarine, they were brilliantly shot in an eerie sort of way.
I was very impressed by Ari Newman’s performance as Tommy. It was very impressive to see so much done by such a young actor considering that his character was silent for the entire movie, I hope that I see Newman in more movies in the future. I know its an odd thing to say but Terry the Tiger reminded me of Hobbes from the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip.
Everybody going through a divorce, who have young kids should watch this movie.
