Recently I got the chance to check out the Mov’in Car Drive-In experience (for those of you wondering I went to see Casablanca.) this was my first cinema experience since the pandemic. First-off I would like to make it perfectly clear that I believe that Canberra needs a Drive-in Cinema because there is more to the ‘movie going experience’ then the movie that you are going to watch and at the moment in Canberra that doesn’t extend past choosing a premium or standard cinema.’
Although it was not an unpleasantly cold night it certainly was a bold choice on the part of organizers to bring a Drive-in cinema to Canberra during the winter. A word of advice if you need a wheelchair to get around in your daily life it might a good idea to bring along a designated able-bodied person to go to the bar to get the choc tops considering the ‘seats’ for your car around the size of a standard parking space and there is no need to ruin a trip to the drive-in by accidently damaging another car with your car door as you get in and out of your car. The only food that can be ordered (and is brought to your car) via the website is some of the best thin crust pizza I have had in recent years.
The Screen was an impressive size though I have a sneaking suspicion that was about the same size as one you would find at your friendly neighborhood cinema. I am certain that the screen used was smaller then IMAX screen.
