THE BAD BOYS Breakfast Show will be going live in an outdoor broadcast on The Wharf in Mooloolaba to support Child Protection Week this Friday. Show Co-Host Darren J Carver says Covid-19 restrictions keep children close to abusers. Newsreader Andrew Hackett asks why are we trying to silence victims.
The last time The Bad Boys, Shayne Brian and Darren J Carver, were outside doing a podcast was when they ambushed a Brisbane Prison over Covid issues inside the jail walls. This time the live broadcast is for another worthy cause – children. The Bad Boys Breakfast Show will be doing a live podcast on the Sunshine Coast in support of the organisation No More Fake Smiles to highlight Child Protection Week, an issue close to the heart of two of the team members co-host Darren and newsreader Andrew Hackett.
When discussing Child Protection Week, Darren said, “This is one of the most important issues children are facing right now, where we see Covid-19 restrictions keeping children close to their abusers.” Mr Carver, who experienced abuse first hand as a child in a boarding school environment, understands the devastation it causes and the life long effects it has on children.
Darren continues, “That is why the live outdoor podcast is important to us. It allows us to give a voice to the issue first hand by chatting with organisations like No More Fake Smiles and literally takes the matter outdoors, away from the home.”
Andrew added, “With the introduction of new laws in Victoria, victims are not allowed to name themselves. I was gobsmacked when this legislation was added. Why are we trying to silence victims when we should be encouraging them to bring this issue into the light.”
With over 130,000 subscribers, The Bad Boys Breakfast Show will be bringing their unique blend of comedy and entertainment to a full two hour show, speaking with Sunshine Coast businesses who are rallying to support Child Protection Week and the incredible work being done by No More Fake Smiles.
