Aaron Falk returns to his drought-stricken hometown to attend a tragic funeral. But his return opens a decades-old wound – the unsolved death of a teenage girl.

I finally got my act together and got out to see The Dry while it is still at the cinema. For those of you who might not know The Dry was adapted from a novel written by Jane Harper. Given The Dry’s current success at the cinema it will be interesting to see if any more of Harper’s novels will be adapted into movies.
I am glad I got to this one sooner rather then later.

After watching The Dry I would like to think that I am going to remember Robert Connolly as a director, because it turns out that I have watched other movies that he has directed such as Balibo and Paper Planes. Connolly has delivered something that is worth watching. Even though The Dry is not the Big Loud Action Movie of the summer there are some shots of Regional Victoria that need to be seen on a Cinema screen.
It was good to see that a few familiar faces were cast in this including one that I had not seen in anything for a while and there are a couple of impressive performances from Matt Nable and Genevieve O’Reilly (turns out I have seen O’Reilly in more movies than I thought I had). Compared to other fictional detectives Eric Bana’s performance as Aaron Falk seemed to be very underplayed which was a great contrast to Keir O’Donnell’s performance as Greg Racco.
