Ahead of the national theatrical release of My Name is Gulpilil on May 27, cinemas across all states and territories will unite on the evening of May 26 for a live-streamed, interactive Q&A event, honouring the screen career of Australian living legend David Gulpilil.
A collaborative national event, fitting for such a national cinema icon, the evening will enable audiences from across urban and regional Australia to participate in an intimate conversation about the life, 50-year career, and story of David Gulpilil, with some very special people who have been part of his extraordinary journey:
– good friend and screen legend Jack Thompson OAM PhD
– Artistic Director of Bangarra Dance Theatre Stephen Page
– founding member of Yothu Yindi and producer/star of High Ground Witiyana Marika
– Australia’s leading film critic and longtime friend Margaret Pomeranz.
The event will be hosted by media personality, founding member of the acclaimed Marngrook Footy Show, Yolngu woman Leila Gurruwiwi.
“Thanks to the support of Screen Australia, cinemas and enthusiastic audiences across the country, our incredible participants, and the wonders of modern technology we are very excited to be able to bring together people from all corners of our geographically massive nation in the name of the one and only David Gulpilil.” Distributor ABCG Film said.
Audiences will be able to participate by sending questions via a QR code on screen in cinema. For more information.
