Okay, I am sure there are a few of you out there who have heard of me talking about the term ‘Rent-A-Kid’. Now for those of you who are unfamiliar with the term ‘Rent-A-Kid’ is when you take a child usually your Niece or Nephew to a children’s movie that you secretly want to see to avoid the judgemental stares of parents in the cinema.
Now in the event that there is nothing that your Niece or Nephew doesn’t want to go to the movies or when you get the chance to hang out with them and watch TV, you are going to need some interesting age appropriate series that you secretly want to watch. So here are a few suggestions.
Recently I had the opportunity to watch episodes from an episode from several Russian Animated Children’s series Homies, Eager Beaver, Nick the Inventor, Magic Kitchen produced by a studio called 100 kilowatt. Now I will admit that I have not reviewed a lot of Russian animation, the only other piece of Russian animation I have reviewed was Snow Queen 3: Fire and Ice. I loved each of the shows (for those of you wondering the shows with dialogue had been dubbed into English) they where charming, educational and about the importance of friendships. But most of all, I loved the theme music to each of the shows. The theme music for each of the series made me grin.
Now from what I can gather each of the series haven’t been released globally. I have been told that Eager Beaver has been released in Israel, Finland and the series is going to be released in Serbia. Regarding Homies, Nick the Inventor and Magic Kitchen, they were successfully released in China. Chinese premiere of “Homies” were on Youku platform, the biggest platform in China. Nick the Inventor was in Top after first weekends of broadcasting.
Homies
This animated series puts viewers into a colorful universe where only houses live. In each episode you meet a new building, such as the Colosseum, the Eiffel Tower and Big Ben. The series inspires children to take interest in exploring the world. Homies also fires up their imagination, while teaching how important it is to have friends, to help them, and to cherish these friendships.
Eagar Beaver
The series shows children what is good and what is bad, teaching them simple truths and that every effort to help is valued. The main character, Beaver, is obviously a local star who can manage any situation in the Tricky Forest. The series demonstrates that even if something goes wrong, you can always fix it if you have friends.
Nick the Inventor
10-year-old Nick is an inventor. On his 3D printer, he creates modern robots and endows them with artificial intelligence. Robots become Nick’s friends and helpers, as well as active participants in his adventures.
Magic Kitchen
Maya is six years old. She dreams of becoming a real culinary chef and a helper to her mother. With the help of magic, the girl goes to the Magic Kitchen – a world inside a toy kitchen that is in her playroom, where Maya can cook anything, without fear of cutting herself or getting burned. In the Magic Kitchen, Maya meets the Chef of the Magic Kitchen, who shares with her gastronomic secrets and the histories of various dishes.
