After hitting rock-bottom, a newly sober paraplegic attempts to save his gang-banger nephew’s life by bringing him along on a 3,100-mile wheelchair trek across the United States.
Okay, there is probably going to be a string of reviews over the next few weeks so I thought I would whet my appetite with Roll with Me which I stumble across while surfing for something to watch on Netflix. I went into this without having seen anything about this documentary but what I was expecting was something that was along the lines of ‘shut up, I’m not crying your crying’. Now the plot did have that, but it was laid on as thick as I thought it was going to be. There was also a message that we all need to be reminded of. The personal transformations that the film crew went through are to be admired. I was not familiar with director Lisa France’s work, apparently Roll with Me is the only documentary France has directed. There is some stunning shots of the American countryside, there are more then a couple shots that I would have loved to have seen on a cinema screen.
