After being recruited by a group of unconventional thieves, renowned criminal Richard Pace finds himself caught up in an elaborate gold heist that promises to have far-reaching implications on his life and the lives of countless others.
I’m kind of glad that I avoided watching this one at the cinema (from what I have read about the movie it looks like The Misfits was largely ignored at the box office), I do have memories of watching the trailer for this and it actually had something going for it I would describe it as Escape Plan with the suaveness of the Ocean’s movies. Yet with what The Misfits had going for it, it managed to fail and fall on its ass. Now I think that both Pierce Brosnan and Tim Roth usually give enjoyable performances and I loved how Nick Cannon’s character Ringo as the narrator of the movie. I also thought Ringo’s rants about Ringo Starr’s abilities where highly entertaining. I went into this familiar with Renny Harlin’s and Kurt Wimmer’s work, The Misfits certainly isn’t something that is going to make me forget about Wimmer’s work on the remake of Point Break. Now what prevented The Misfits from being a rewatchable movie is its sense of humour. Now being awkward simply for the sake being awkward works and certainly is funny and when used in a heist movie it works in small doses but like with The Misfits it gets old very quickly.
