Ever wanted to build a space rocket, invent a homework-doing machine or make your school vanish? Well, join Tracey McBean and best friend Shamus Wong, on journeys full of mystery, drama, bizarre twists and funny bits! Tracey’s annoyed from being the smallest in the family, because even Megan, her little sister is taller than her! So she decides to invent a stretching machine which will make her taller. But will it work? / Tracey dares Jim and Jake to ride down the town’s highest mountain.
I’m sure that some of you out there might remember the children’s cartoon Tracey McBean. For those of you who might not remember it ran from 2001 to 2006 on ABC Kids. I recently stumbled across this one on Prime Video and was sufficiently motivated to revisit the first episode. Now the show had what could only be described being a little simplistic. However, the simplicity is more than made up for by the show’s heart and the fact even though the show is 21 years old its still funny. There’s a lot to love about the show Tracey’s confidence, her friendship with Shamus Wong and her rivalry with the McConnolly brothers. I loved Akmal Saleh as Jim McConnolly. While watching the second story I couldn’t help but think that the climax of the story was partially inspired by Bart The Daredevil episode of The Simpsons.
