Three band members hoping for a big break head to a radio station to play their demo tape and wind up holding everyone hostage with plastic guns when the head D.J. refuses to play them.
Sticking with what might seem to be a theme to the reviews that are going to be posted this weekend, 90’s movies. We have Airheads from 1994 starring Brendan Fraser. Airheads is a very watchable movie but perhaps is not my personal favourite Brendan Fraser movie from the 90’s I feel that you can’t go past the silliness of George of the Jungle I loved Keith Scott as the Narrator. Given that music is such a major plot point for the movie my biggest complaint about the movie is that the soundtrack wasn’t featured as greatly in the movie as it should have been. The filmmakers also made a great point about the importance being who you are, Talking about that scene it is interesting to note that when God when to high school he was the editor of the school magazine.
Brendan Fraser had a solid leading man look, though he didn’t seem to have that many jokes, which is a shame because he does have good comedic timing. I really enjoyed Joe Mantegna’s performance as Ian. Even though I don’t have the best memories of Adam Sandler movies from the 90’s after watching this I feel that Pip might have been one of Sandler’s better movie roles from the decade while Steve Buscemi was something of an odd casting choice. Chris Farley was great as Wilson; I loved the moment his character had with the nipple ring. The other stand out performance despite only having a handful of scenes was Judd Nelson as Jimmie Wing. Considering it has been more then a little since I last saw Airheads it was a little jarring seeing David Arquette in a movie with blonde hair.
