Henry is resurrected from death with no memory, and he must save his wife from a telekinetic warlord with a plan to bio-engineer soldiers.
I really must try to think to hard about why i decide to watch some movies, I do actually have vague memories of watching this in the friendly neighbourhood cinema back in 2016, don’t worry if you haven’t heard of Hardcore Henry because if memory serves it was in cinemas for less then a week. Which is a shame because the POV narrative that is used for the entire movie makes Hardcore Henry one of the most creative action movies that I have seen in recent years. Though, yes I will admit that when I think about Hardcore Henry the first thing that I think about is video game cinematic movies.
For those of you wondering, apparently the part of Henry was played by ten different stuntmen and cameramen including director Ilya Naishuller. Naishuller has also directed Nobody and a handful of music videos. There really isn’t that much special about the plot because it’s all about the action. I loved Sharlto Copley’s performance and I would like to say that this is my vote for the best unexpected dance number in a movie. Haley Bennett gave a decent enough performance and I might have to check out more of her work in the future. While Tim Roth’s monologue as Henry’s Father is something that is worth going back to when you need a kick in the pants.
