Evil aliens attack Earth and set their terrible “Plan 9” into action. As the aliens resurrect the dead of the Earth, the lives of the living are in danger.
For those of you who might be interested, authors Harry Medved and Michael Medved dubbed Plan 9 from Outer Space the “worst film ever made” in their 1980 book The Golden Turkey Awards. Personally I don’t believe that Plan 9 is the “worst film ever made”, now i suppose it could have something to do with the fact that Plan 9 is 65 years old but only other “bad” or “crappy” movies that I have reviewed I didn’t feel that somehow the movie has personally insulted me, Plan 9 certainly has relinquished the crown of “worst film ever made”. It should also be noticed that Plan 9 from Outer Space was the final movie of Bela Luggosi who died before the film was finished. This is the sort of movie that you should watch at least once, because of its reputation and it is very easy to track down on the internet. Most of the actors who were cast in this gave performances that were best described as being emotionally flat. The only performances that I found myself enjoying were that of Norma McCarty as Edith the stewardess and Criswell ( aka The Amazing Criswell) as the narrator. Originally released in July of 1959 (with a premier in 1957) Plan 9 has a lot of the qualities that I love from the early episodes of Doctor Who that I like watching. The effects used for the death ray and the spaceships are wonderfully hilarious.
