Coles and Aussie growers are set to sprinkle Christmas joy this festive season with an initiative sure to help make Rudolph’s red nose shine bright. Families across Australia can collect a free ‘Reindeer Carrot’ from a designated collection point when exiting their Coles store, ready to leave out on Christmas Eve for Santa’s hard-working reindeers. These special ‘Reindeer Carrots’ are available in stores across Australia from today until Christmas Eve -Saturday 24th December.Coles Business Category Manager for Vegetables, Tim Nitschke, said Coles is pleased to be able to bring back this instore initiative for the second year running.
“Offering free reindeer carrots is a great way that we can help repurpose food and reduce waste in the lead up to Christmas. These carrots also provide a fantastic opportunity to spread Christmas spirit to our customers and their families and kids excited for Christmas Day,” Nitschke commented.
Nitschke explained that Five Aussie growers from across the country have partnered with Coles to donate over 50 tonnes of carrots for this program to feed Santa’s reindeer. Alongside spreading the joy, the donation of carrots will help to reduce food waste in the lead up to Christmas, with growers donating surplus stock that may be a little wonky or blemished and would otherwise be destined for waste or used for food processing.
Nitschke said that the Reindeer carrots are 100% Santa approved and are available from 10am Wednesday 21st December until stocks last.
