Carrying universal messages, ‘Shine on You’ is the brand new EP from Blue Mountains based Folk/Rock duo Piperlain, featuring the lead single ‘Bloom’. The EP focus track is the uplifting and beautifully textured ‘ I Feel The Sun’. Recorded at MusicPro Farmstay Studios by engineer Paul Iannuzzelli, at a secret studio location near the Warrumbungle national park, in western New South Wales and mastered at Abbey Road Studios in London by engineers Frank Arkwright and Geoff Pesche.
“The theme of the EP is about being “lost and found”. It starts with ‘I Feel the Sun’ which is about coming out of the height of the Covid-19 lockdown, finding inspiration again and being able to shine. ‘Shine on You’ and ‘I Don’t Miss You’ are about feeling loss, through a lost relationship and lost by the pressures of society. Feeling despondent about social media imagery that portrays a perfect life and body as well as disillusionment during the Covid-19 pandemic. ‘Bloom’ was inspired by people moving away from the city to rural areas following lockdown, rediscovering something special in nature as well as perhaps something forgotten in themselves, taking a chance and starting a new life.‘’ Rebecca Voorn-Knight commented
Voorn-Knight explained that ‘Shine on You’ was recorded on-site in the Warrumbungles, surrounded by nature and farmland, ‘Shine on You’ captures a more organic sound. The result is an opening track filled with positivity and hopefulness with ‘I Feel the Sun’, which combines acoustic beach vibes and folk elements with dreamy rock pop influences. This then leads into a passionate interlude of dramatically poised and purposeful rock pop songs in ‘Shine on You’ and ‘I Don’t Miss You’, before coming full circle into positivity with the enchanting track, ‘Bloom’, with its rhythmic percussive elements embraced by elegant piano and lofty honest vocals. Piperlain combines the sounds of indie, alternative pop/folk/rock with emotive, passionate vocals.
Formed by singer/songwriters Benjamin Knight and Rebecca Voorn-Knight, the Piperlain sound has been compared to a contemporary version of The Cranberries and The Corrs with similarities to Sarah Blasko and Josh Pyke. Piperlain made the finals of the B&T Madweek Battle of the Bands where they received commendation from Sony on live performance and songwriting talent. In 2017 Piperlain released the concept album ‘Mother Mourned’, which recounts the personal and emotional journey of two people growing up with and caring for mothers with serious illnesses. Joseph Earp – The Brag said of Piperlain’s concept album “Mother Mourned…a devastating, tragically beautiful concept album…full of confessional lyrics and understated, quietly devastating instrumentation”
‘Bloom’, the first single from ‘Shine on You’, was released on January 20th and is currently receiving airplay on radio stations across Australia as well as playlisting across Spotify globally. ‘SHINE ON YOU’ IS AVAILABLE NOW ACROSS ALL DIGITAL PLATFORMS
