During the ’90s, a new faction of Transformers – the Maximals – join the Autobots as allies in the battle for Earth.
I didn’t like this one, it should be noted that I didn’t feel as if I was personally offended by the existence of Rise of the Beasts but there were times that it was pretty damn close. My first thoughts when I saw that Unicron was going to be featured in the movie was that they were going to remake the 80s cartoon. That might have been the better play. If Mark Wahlberg’s tenure with Transformers is what killed the Franchise and Hailee Steinfeld was supposed to revive the franchise with Bumblebee then Rise of the Beasts put more than a few nails in the coffin of the franchise and I doubt the teased GI Joe and Transformers crossover would be enough to rescue things. Especially considering that the glory days of this franchise are long gone and director Steve Caple Jr. is seemingly incapable of raising to ‘Bay’ levels of action, he clearly tried in the third act but there was not enough of an emotional investment to pull it off. The voice acting for the transformers was more enjoyable then either of the live action leads Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback.Pete Davidson was enjoyable as Mirage and Michelle Yeoh as Airazor. I would have loved to have seen more time dedicated to the character’s notebook, it would have helped her character seem like the intellectual authority that she was supposed to be.
