Chelios faces a Chinese mobster who has stolen his nearly indestructible heart and replaced it with a battery-powered ticker which requires regular jolts of electricity to keep working.

Ok. Going into this it might of been a good idea to rewatch Neveldine/Taylor’s 2006 movie Crank before watching High Voltage (for those of you playing along at home High Voltage was released in 2009 and there’s been talk of a possible third movie for the past 11 years) because there’s more than a few plot points that come up because of the previous movie, but it is not enough for you to be completely lost if you haven’t watched the ‘06 movie. Though, considering that High Voltage is all about the action, though it’s not just a big dumb action movie the directors brought some creativity to the movie that you would have expected from a ‘comic book’ movie.

Jason Statham gave the sort of performance that you’d expect from him (probably slightly better then what he did in The Expendables 4) and it was good to see the other lead characters from the 2006 movie reprise their roles. The first time I watched High Voltage I can’t remember if I realized that the lead villain was played by Clifton Collins, it was also kind of cool to see a cameo appearance from Ron Jeremy during scene depicting a strike by porn actors. But I really loved Bai Ling’s performance as Ria the character was so over the top, it was glorious.
