The Starcruiser of the Towani-family crashes on the moon Endor. Father and mother Towani get separated from their 2 children Mace and Cindel. The children are found by Ewoks, inhabitants of Endor. Although communicating is a real pain at first, Mace and Cindel persuade the Ewoks to help them to find their parents.
Alright, I’m sure there’s more then a few of you out there who’ve watched this at least once, I know it’s been at least 30 years since I’ve last watched The Caravan of Courage. I’d also say that it’s a slight bonus that rare titles like this appear on your favourite streaming service like Disney+. Even though this is a children’s movie, this is still a very watchable movie, I enjoyed the performances of Eric Walker as Mace and Aubree Miller as Cindel. The filmmakers actually gave the audience a reason to actually care about the characters, something that filmmakers have neglected to do in more recent years. It was also interesting to note that Eric Walker as Mace had a look that could be described as a young Luke Skywalker. It was a nice touch by the filmmakers in a bedtime story sort of way for the narration by Burt Ives. Some of the creature effects didn’t seem to age that well, most notably the spiders that were featured in the spiderweb crossing. Perhaps it was a case of rose coloured glasses but the Ewok costumes used for The Return of Jedi seemed to be of better quality then of the ones used in The Caravan of Courage. That being said the Ewoks seemed to be better developed as individuals.
