A research team encounters multiple threats while exploring the depths of the ocean, including a malevolent mining operation.
The creature feature or if you prefer to be slightly more specific giant monster movie don’t always suck, sadly that isn’t always the case when it comes to their sequels. The easiest way to tell that your watch a bad giant creature feature is when you find yourself cheering for the monster so that the movie can end sooner. For the record, no I didn’t do my homework and rewatch The Meg, which might’ve been a good idea considering that it was released 5 years ago in 2018, I haven’t even read the books that the movies are based on written by Steve Alten. It was a little disappointing to see that Jon Turteltaub didn’t return to direct the sequel in favor of Ben Wheatley, it is always disappointing when there is no continuity with directors when it comes to a potential franchise movie. It should also be noted that according to IMDB Jason Statham was disappointed by the lighter tone and lack of bloodshed in this film. This is a lazy uninspired movie and I look forward to the moment that i forget that I actually watched it. With little if any character development, rewatching the Deep Blue Sea sequels would have been a better use of my time.
