I’ll admit right off the bat that the purpose of this just might be to write another list, it’s been more than a month since I last wrote a list for the site. How many of you out there haven’t watched Deadpool and Wolverine, yet? It’s okay if you haven’t, for a time I lost interest in superhero movies.
Anyway, there’s motivational meme going around on YouTube shorts because of the use of Like a Prayer in the movie Deadpool and Wolverine, with text along the lines of ‘Girls: I just want to go peacefully surrounded by my loved ones’ and then ‘Boys:’ over footage of a heroic last stand from Television, Movies or video games. Now, we would like to think that we live in some sort of enlightened age so yes I am sure there are women who will go out in some kind of heroic last stand given the opportunity. But that’s not why I’m writing this, given the religious and sexual tones of the song. I get it that motivation works differently for different people, but I still have to ask. Is Like a prayer by Madonna the best possible song choice for this meme? Here are a few songs off the top of my head.
