Score 2/6

The adventures of 3 young astronomers and their fight to survive a deadly Martian invasion.

Going into this I was already aware of the overall structure of the story having watched other adaptations of war of the worlds in the past. Given that The War of the Worlds was originally written by English author H. G. Wells between 1895 and 1897 and then with the 1938 radio broadcast narrated and directed by Orson Welles, the story is old enough, because of all the movie adaptations and television parodies that virtually everybody is aware of at least part of the plot. I loved Vincent Regan’s performance as the Curate. I don’t think that I’m overly familiar with Regan’s work but he delivered a sinister quality to the Curate.
Is this the best adaptation of War of the Worlds? Perhaps not. For the telling of the overall story I think I preferred the 2005 adaptation starring Tom Cruise. However, I loved what Syed did visually with the city of London in the third act. I’d like to think that I wont run away from a Junaid Syed movie if I ever come across another one. My biggest problem watching War of The Worlds: The Attack was that it seemed to be indecisive as if it is supposed to be a feature length movie or an episode in a television series. Watching this I was struck by how much the movie visually reminded me of an English television series from the mid-80’s called The Tripods.
