Minister for the Environment and Sustainable Development, Simon Corbell recently announced that several Queanbeyan businesses have signed up to the ACT Governments’ ACTSmart Business and Office recycling program.
“The expansion of the ACTSmart Business and Office program to include Queanbeyan follows an agreement between the Queanbeyan City Council and the ACT Government and furthers the hard work being done to reduce waste to landfill in the ACT and surrounding region,” Mr Corbell commented.
Mr Corbell noted that over 350 sites have signed up since ACTSmart began in 2009, with 77 already completing implementation and achieving accreditation. He added that the program would initially, be run in Queanbeyan for 12 months before it would be reviewed to assess its impact.
