Featuring the boys of Johnny’s West, a gang of zany transfer students are recruited for a mysterious mission ordained by their shadowy principal.
Based on the manga series “Hono no Tenkosei” by Kazuhiko Shimamoto (first published from 1983 to 1985 in weekly shonen manga magazine Weekly Shonen Sunday).
I am kind of glad that I found this one on Netflix Blazing Transfer Students is probably the most bonkers television series that I have watched this year. Doubt my claims as to how bonkers this series actually is? For seven of the episodes in the series one of the characters was a dummy which the other characters interacted with as if he could talk.
This is an easy series to watch with only eight episodes in the whole season with each of them under thirty minutes long. I suppose my only complaint about the series is that its structure was a little formulaic, it would have been nice to see one two-part story in the season. Blazing Transfer Students was self-aware (with one instance of characters telling other characters so that they can film the show) while also being what could only be described as a live action manga series. Other movies that have live action comic book feel include four movies that been adapted from Asterix and Obelix comics.
