The FuelWatch website has reached an all-time record with more than a million visits in a month from motorists on the hunt for Perth’s cheapest fuel.
“The record number of people seeking fuel price information indicates the growing popularity of FuelWatch and how valuable the community finds this service.” Western Australian Commerce and Industrial Relations Minister Bill Johnston commented “FuelWatch can help families save money by giving them the opportunity to seek out the cheapest fuel site in their area on any day.” Minister Johnston explained that last month the website recorded 1,048,529 visits, the highest monthly number since FuelWatch launched in January 2001. The average is usually 800,000 visits a month. Unique to Western Australia, FuelWatch provides motorists with a valuable tool to plan their fuel purchases with prices from most retail sites available each day, and the next day’s prices after 2.30pm. The Minister added that the prices once posted are locked in for 24 hours. Mondays are still the cheapest days in the weekly fuel price cycle, and Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the most expensive.
“With fuel prices on the rise in recent months, it’s even more important to take advantage of the free FuelWatch service. I encourage people living in the Perth metropolitan area to check the website before deciding where to buy fuel.” Minister Johnston commented.
