T’Challa, the King of Wakanda, rises to the throne in the isolated, technologically advanced African nation, but his claim is challenged by a vengeful outsider who was a childhood victim of T’Challa’s father’s mistake.
Alright I am finally over my case of Marvel-Movie-Itis and I have finally gotten the chance to go and see Black Panther.
In the lead up to going to see Black Panther, I got the sense that from reading the headlines from some of the articles about Black Panther that there was calls for it to receive as many Oscar nominations as possible. Well, if Black Panther gets any nominations it should be for its special effects and cinematography in most cases that’s the best you can expect from a comic book movie, because let’s face it there cinematic pulp. It was good to see Andy Serkis play a role that was … human, both Chadwick Boseman and Lupita Nyong’o gave good performances. I also enjoyed how Letitia Wright and Boseman played off each other as brother and sister.
The biggest complaint I have with Black Panther is the handling of the character Killmonger. There is no need to kill me I think that Michael B. Jordan was good as Killmonger, its just that the character was poorly handled in the final act of movie. The character was already established as being highly intelligent but when it came to establish him as a power to rival T’Challa the filmmakers should have shown us and not told us.
