Robert McCall serves an unflinching justice for the exploited and oppressed, but how far will he go when that is someone he loves?
This is the first-time director Antoine Fuqua has directed a sequel to one of his own movies. It should also be noted that this After over 55 film and television credits, this is Denzel Washington’s first sequel. Also along with Denzel Bill Pullman, and Melissa Leo are the only actors from the original to appear in the sequel.
For those of you who might be wondering, yes I actually did my homework and re-watched Fuqua’s The Equalizer which was originally released back in 2014 (for those of you who might be wondering I was actually looking forward to watching this more than the current release from Marvel studios, though yes I will eventually get to it).
in the establishing of a franchise or just with a sequel it is always good to see directorial continuity, because the magic from the first movie can be lost if another director takes over.
Even though both movies have a similar vibe to them I got the impression that the 2014 movie was more of a big loud action movie whereas The Equalizer 2 seemed to have more of a slow burn to it. Parts of the plot were predictable and I got the impression that there might have been a deleted scene that could have made a reveal make a little more sense.
