Our Wing Commander Review from 2013

In the mid-27th century, the Terran Confederation is at war with the felinoid Kilrathi Empire. After destroying a Terran base, the Kilrathi have seized a NAVCOM unit with the hyperspace jump coordinates to Earth. With Terran reinforcements scheduled to arrive two hours after the Kilrathi hit Earth, it falls upon the starfighter carrier TCS Tiger Claw to keep the Kilrathi busy.

Okay its time to revisit a movie that I have already reviewed, according to my files I reviewed Wing commander in February of 2013. Before reviewing Wing Commander for The Movie Boards I’ll admit that it is something when it was first released in Australia it was something that I watched more than a few times (For those of you who might be interested this not a movie that star Freddie Prinze Jr. looks back on favorably).
Nearly twenty years after its original release it seems that the movie did not age that well. I did like the World War 2 vibe the Terran Confederation ships had and despite Prinze Jr.’s less then favorable opinion of the movie there was some nice dialogue moments. Most of them delivered by Matthew Lillard. But the plot of Wing Commander boils down to a garden variety yay humanity!! kind of movie.
