A back-up quarterback is chosen to lead a Texas football team to victory after the star quarterback is injured.
We have a post revisit on our hands, its been a while since I have last revisited a movie that I have already reviewed. According to this version of The Movie Boards my review for Varsity Blues was posted in June of 2012, though looking into the vault it dates this review to May of 2007.
I do have vague memories of this being released, its oh so great when you start getting movies that make you feel old.
This is a good simple movie. There is not a lot to it and looking back on it now my mid-thirties this does not have that it might have had when I first watched it. That being said Varsity Blues is still enjoyable and perhaps even rewatchable, though I will admit that the last time I watched this was probably June of 2012. A lot of the actors cast in Varsity Blues went on to varying degrees of fame and this is a good example of Paul Walker’s early work as this was released two years before the first of The Fast and the Furious movies. As expected Jon Voigt gave a good performance and I feel that Ron Lester who was cast as Billy Bob was apart of several memorable scenes.
